Howdy,
I'm a Richmond radio listener since 1968 and loved the old WLEE AM 1480 with "THE ORIGINAL SHANE".I have digitally remastered a 1974 recording of Richmond Revisited....the annual Halloween nite feature played on WLEE for at least 12 years in a row.(I made my last on air recording in 1981)I've been trying to persuade 96.5 the planet to play this recording but I keep getting turned down. Now I know they played it twice around 1994 and 1995 when they were WLEE.But I guess there just is no interest in this production masterpiece from days gone by.Guy Spiller has a copy of it as well as Dick Hundgate.Guy emailed me and said he was amazed at the remastering quality of an AM radio broadcast from over 30 years ago.Believe it or not....as I was making the original recording on a monophonic panasonic cassette AM\FM radio back on Halloween 1974 , someone else was recording the same broadcast because when 96.5 WLEE aired Richmond Revisited back in 1994 and 1995 the recording played back a transmission blackout that happened that very nite in 1974.My original Radio Shack T-120 (WOW) cassette has the same blackout.However...to improve the remastered recording I removed the blackout.
Anyway,it would be so great to hear this again on the radio....just for old time sake.Perhaps AM WLEE could be convinced to air it but they wont return my phone calls. If anyone is interested please contact me at rooster658@comcast.net. Also check with Guy Spiller and Dick Hundgate.
Cheers,
Wayne
