Hey Grass it's only a job when you get paid, not when you have to pay someone to be there, that's called tuition. Ask Lucas how to get paid for a gig, he'll set you up at a WaWa Store. Good to hear from you Big John. The sale was supposed to be consummated this past week. The delay in taking over has to do with the phone folk’s inability to get audio lines in to broadcast the new format. The reason you have not read anything on a call change for WVNZ 1320 is because we have not filed yet. We are looking for new calls. Anyone out there have any thoughts?

I've been on vacation and just got back. Couldn't wait to read "THE BOARD" only to find out that most people are disatisfied with the postings. Perhaps the reason why "real Radio people" don't post here anymore or don't use their real names is because they are either bored with retoric, or CHICKEN!...At any rate, my belief is they're still reading it...AND LAUGHING...then they say...NEXT! All of you non-radio people that are youngsters in this business, or first time radio people that "think" you know it all, play with this board all you want...To me, it's like CB RADIO all over again...(CB by the way used to stand for Children's Band) Breaker one-nine...Thor, you are one of the "old timers" and you continue to be very funny. Thank you. Narcissistic Spoilers are exactly what they are. It would be great to be able to swap ideas, read stories from the old guys, find friends and jobs here but it seems the kids have taken over and are abusing their welcome. Real radio people only occasionally post here. Why would they open themselves up to such mean spiteful abuse? Going after people anonymously, even after they have lost their jobs, is the act of a wannabee trying to play in the big leagues. One moron on this board said he had to be anonymous or the things he was saying about others might cost him his job. Airhead, here is a clue. If you don’t say things that will get you fired you don’t have to worry about someone finding out who said them. I guess it would be asking too much of the kids to take their pettiness elsewhere and let us have our board back. What a concept, real radio talk, like helping Jim find a job for an employee he let go. By the way Jim I’m voting for you for Governor. Unlike some who have had the courage to use their real names, I will pass, I don’t need the crap.

Actually they are all afraid of being recognized and reprimanded for speaking their minds. With the punks from Queer Channel like John Lassman, Randall Bloomquist, Bill Cahill, and James Levy looking over their shoulder, they sit quietly while these bozos play god with their careers. Well I broke free! Turns out that I had more talent than anyone at Cheap Channel would ever help me to recognize. It took 1 tape. That's right 1 tape and resume and I landed a new gig in New York. My new company treats me with respect and dignity. I have a new outlook on radio. I will never work for that company again! I hear by pledge never to work for the evil that is Clear Channel. If they should someday buy out my current employer, I vow to quit. Never will I be their slave again. To all my friends back in Richmond, I say come on in, the water is just fine. What are you afraid of? It can't be any worse than what you have now. Face it, Crucifix Channel doesn't care about you at all! Leave them!! So you might have to move and uproot your families. In the long run it will be better for them too. You will feel better about your self and your job which in turn will allow you to be a better member of your family. What's it boil down to? Creep Channel needs you more than you need them! It may not sound like it, but think about it. It's true. What you think John Lassman can go into the studio and run the board? Think again.

Someone is looking for the real Jocks on this board? Maybe they are tired of being insulted and abused here. Some guy asks a simple radio question and is told to “Shut Up”. Jacobs, one of our own, announces he is running for Governor and instead of finding friends and help is made fun of. I have seen posting here intended to get others fired. I will assume the question was rhetorical. This board is less about radio and more about narcissistic spoilers. Maybe the kids will get tired and go away until then I think I will stay on the sidelines with my friends.

WVBB has been sold and the new owners are not keeping the “Music Of Your Life” format. WVNZ, now “Unforgettable” 1320, has picked it up along with the venerable Floyd Henderson. Any suggestions for calls? By the way, anyone know of an opening for a good man? I had to let my News Director/Senior Producer go. Truth is a moron. Also, Q94 should've canned some of the urban hits when the Beat went on the air. I think they should go back to how they were before they picked up more urban songs. Some are ok and some should be left to the Beat!

Thor is in Detroit and they have real radio people here...Hey anecdote, Thor thinks you are a very silly little person and Thor laughs at you. Thor will explain why Thor speaks in third person, Thor will make it very simple for you. A long time ago when Thor was a Thor-ette she worked in radio.....Everyone who Thor met always taked about themselves, how great thier numbers were, how they nailed the post better than anyone, how they were a great sales person and so-on. Thor tried and tried to act like the other radio geeks but just couldn't do it. One day Thor was speaking with Bob-A-Lou asking advice on how Thor could get noticed.. The great Bogga told Thor to do things differently from other radio geeks, make a name for Thor's self bogga said. So Thor thought and thought..Thor noticed how everyone kept saying "I" this and "I" that...no-one knew Thor's name and so instead of saying "I", Thor says Thor. That's what Thor's name is. Now everyone knows Thor and Thor knows her theory works. No-one cares about little geeks like Anecdote. To the fake Thors out there, please when you use Thors name, make your posts creative and funny like Thor. Okay, it's been nearly two months and I've had a chance to listen to what all the hype was about in Fredericksburg and all I hear is another canned and bland radio station with syndicated shows and everything else automated. You poor soul. If you haven't figured it out already, radio people are a mean, sarcastic, gossipy bunch that don't deal well with outsiders. Sorry. Your two decent choices are WRVA (Local mornings/Rush/Dr Laura/Local afternoons, etc) or Hot Talk 990 (Imus/Mike Gallagher/Liddy/Local afternoons, etc). Some people claim to have problems picking the latter up, but it's worth a try since the afternoon guy (Jim Jacobs, insert comment here _______) is running for Governor. For sports, there's Sportsradio 910 (Jim Rome/above average local afternoons). If you're looking for Howard Stern you'll have to get cable.

A few items...First the current Q94/Beat debate...WRVQ Q94 has been adding more urban hits to their playlist lately (D12, Eve, Missy Elliot, Ja Rule...) despite the fact they continue to also add modern rock(American Hi-Fi, Lifehouse, Smash Mouth, Dave Matthews, Five for Fighting) and pop (Jessica Simpson, N'Sync, Backstreet Boys). Which direction will Q94 head, that is the question that will be answered in time. ... Moving up the dial to Y101 (WDYL, 101.1FM)...They continue to do a great job. Chris Santori (hope I got the spelling corect) is the new night DJ. He started Monday of last week and has a couple of features that bring back memories of The Buzz(106.5 WBZU)(Oh, by the way his show is titled "That Damn Show." All during last week he asked listeners to suggest a title for it and that title won out over stuff like "Better than Static" and "Tetnis shot.") At 8 pm is the "Cage Match" (a former Buzz feature), pitting a champion song against a new rock challenger, where the audience votes to see who will be back the next night. Then at 9 pm another countdown, this time sponsored by Plan 9, with the corresponding title "The Plan 9 at 9." Also, if anyone drives down I-64 around the West Broad Street exits, notice that for a good mile or so WDYL's signal goes dead. Any idea why there is this dead zone for the signal?...Finally all the way at the end of the dial, Star 107.3FM (WBBT) is focusing their all 80's weekend this weekend on "Hair Bands." Should be a fun and interesting weekend at Star. ...

Strategically, why SHOULD Q94 add more urban cuts to their playlist? Aren't they owned by the same company as the apparently newly dominating force in Richmond Radio? Let the Beat play the urban records. If Clear Channel wants to own it all (and apparently they do), wouldn't they want to align a group of stations that seperately hit the heart of every core demo out there? If so, let the Beat play Mystikal and let Q cater to the pimply white masses and soccer moms with their current and approriate mix. They've been hitting their target for awhile. All Q needs to do is stay fresh and play the hits that test well (which Surf is doing)...just add Wicker and they should be fine. Listeners, if you're looking for variety, get a CD changer and put it on "random". That said, I DO own a Ja Rule cd. Big ups to Jake...Biddle, sorry I missed you, you are a permanent resident on the freezer door. Call me.

Bingo to ex-basier, I wonder if we know each other. It occurred to me that since what Jeff did was off the air and out of the public eye, most people, including the ones he worked for never knew just how he super-served his customers. It's a lesson I've taken with me now that I'm completely out of the radio business. I'd say I learned more about how to deal with the public by watching him than anyone can ever imagine. I'd also wager no one he works for has any idea what a terrific representitive of their station he is. I listen now and wonder why they dismantled such a wonderful show. Seeing how the best of the best have been treated I don't regret for a moment leaving radio. I'm in insurance and believe it or not I use more of what I learned about how to treat people from Jeff that summer so long ago at Basie Road than anything else I learned anywhere else. It's the secret to carving out a successful career. I'll always have a love for the medium of radio but shake my head in wonder when I think of how some hard working talented professionals have been treated. It makes no sense. Now, I promise to go back to lurking unless anybody needs life insurance.

For several years I worked with a guy who's still doing mornings in this town. He answered every phone call, remembered listeners names by their voices, asked about their families by names and often helped them with personal problems off the air and never mentioned the nice things he was doing on the air for his own aggrandizement. When someone called who was obviously a fool, he messed with them on the air. I only mention this now because the topic has been on air people bashing listeners. His philosophy was always, " they're my customers and without them I wouldn't be working. " Well he's still working and I think that may be one of the reasons why. Never take the fact that someone is listening to you for granted, they could be listening to someone else. I don't think he visits this board, I haven't seen him post, but if you're out there ( he'll know who he is ) thanks for taking the time to be so nice to me too, I just decided that I couldn't take the stress and judging from the way things have played out where you are, I apologize to you for the insenstive stupid managers who don't realize what a gem they've got working for them. Teach, you are right. Even when the customer is wrong he is still the customer. Every listener represents an investment in time and money. There is no such thing as pissing off one listener, they have friends, and telling “what a jerk stories” are as big out there as they are on this board. Successful talent knows this. You are also right about the people you surround yourself with. You can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep.

Always treat the customer right and be sure that when you do talk bad about them (never a real good habit to indulge in), that they darn sure can't hear you. I had a mentor one time tell me that she didn't each lunch with the rest of the staff because they were so negative about the customers. Rather than be drawn into that negative spin on their life and work, she ate by her self. I try in my job to stay away from such negativity towards our "customers". It breed contempt and bitterness in your job and outlook. Oh yah, I teach public school.

Thor basher: While I agree with your sentiments about Thor, don't you realize that bashing (1) management and (2) the customers are the main off-hour preoccupation of EVERY WORKING PERSON IN AMERICA? :)

It's not just radio people. Department store clerks make fun of clothes shoppers. Grocery clerks laugh about their customers. Toll takers laugh at the drivers who go by. It's how everyone vents.

Trust me, they realize who pays the bills, and if they don't, they wind up in WaWa. Like Thor. :)

It seems to me that the big "new" format is one that is always 15-20 years old. Let's see....say I'm a 40 year old female, that means music that was popular when I was 20 to 25 years old will resonate strongly with me. So, the trick is (as I see it), is to tweak the programming so that the playlist pulls hits from the 15-20 year old hitlist. Now I don't know squat about sales or programming (and my comments above are probably evidence of that), but it sems like the case that it works.... you tell me

It's funny that the 80's format has taken over, much like Jammin Oldies did 5 years ago. The only thing is, the 80's format is working. It's in Philly, and doing well. But everyone considers it a niche format. What people don't realize is a rock station voicetracked is even more of a niche format. A top 40 bowing down to corporate is a niche format, an AM with syndication is worse than a niche format, plenty of stations with beaten down 'part-timers' are niche formats. Make no mistake , when I say niche, I mean 'not going to work'. CC seems to have killed Richmond. Once billing goes down (and people are allowed to sell on their LPFM's), things might change.

Well folks if a radio station in Richmond would like a idea for a format switch try all 80's format. Star 107.3 has the basic idea if they would drop the music the came after 1989. If they would like a demo on how to do it they need look no further than Star 102.7 out of Las Vegas which my wife and I had the great pleasure of listening to when we were in vegas the last 6 days. I am certain that this station out of Las Vegas will do better than the pervious attempt at 80's in Vegas mainly due to the less talk on 102.7. John Lassman I see you briefly graced the board with your presence. I do wish Corey Dietz all of the best as he is doing triple duty in his life to ensure a great life after he leaves radio for whatever the reason maybe. As for Jim Jacobs go run for political office, you have my official endorsement right here big guy. God Bless.

What you're seeing at WNVZ is a lack of talent. Most of their air staff couldn't even make it Richmond! How are they supposed to make an impact in Hampton Roads. They're just not capable of entertaining this market. They belong in a much smaller market. Richmond couldn't support them, that should tell them something. WOWI and WNVZ are history, they have under programmed themselves into mediocrity and obscurity.

Well, get used to it buckaroo. Every day that passes marks the end of another disc jockey's career. Radio is trying it's best to mimic the success of the television networks. Unfortunately most Americans don't listen to radio for the same things they watch TV. The conglomerates irrational race to syndicate and voicetrack the world will be their downfall. Less people listen to the radio everyday because of their short sightedness. Too many commercials and too little content equals less market share for radio and it's precious ad dollars.

Wait, let me see if I understand this correctly. There are actually AM radio stations in Richmond with live personalities employed? WXGI must not be making any money! How can they afford to do radio and pay employees too! Here's how AM radio is supposed to be run: 1) Immediately fire anyone at the station who has been there longer than ten years. 2) Replace those that are left with syndication and banish them to board op hell 3) Wait for the ratings to drop off the chart. (This usually doesn't take more than 2 or 3 books) 4) Wonder why you've lost 70% of your revenue and listeners. 5) Move on to the next station.

Interesting question, who's the most intelligent person on Richmod radio. I'll think about it and get back to you guys. Right now I'm pondering what's going on at the scientific conference on the eastern Aryan languages that opened in Tajikistan Tuesday. It's another one of those joint things with scholars from Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan organized by Orientology and Scripts Heritage Department of Tajikistan's Science Academy and Afghan Arya Press Agency where samples of the regional Persian language scripts of the pre-Arab era, as well as the advances and promotions made in different branches of various east Aryan languages were discussed. As I was telling the wife, I agree with the Afghan scholar Gholam Jilani Davari who said "Much research has been conducted in the West on the history of various Iranian languages, but unfortunately their valuable outcome has not been available to Tajik and Afghan researchers and scholars." Brian T. -- "Hot 9-9-3" came back on the air yesterday, I'm not sure why they were off yesterday morning, it sounded like it could have just been a mistake......I can't get 9-9-3 at home, only from work, but it sounds pretty good musically, mostly upbeat hip hop, along with static of course. 106 finally gave away the $10,000 yesterday around 5:25 pm....they played song 5000 (Thong Song) right at 5:00pm....coincidentally, or maybe not, Power 92 played "Thong Song" right at 5:00pm as well. A Bridge Water College student, Rashad, listening from the Hopewell area took home the $10,000 cash....All listeners I know, including myself received the "Welcome to Verizon, All circuits are busy" disclaimer from 5:00 until about 5:25......so apparently quite a few people are tuning in, regardless of new label Power 92 has given itself... "Your Only Station" & "Power 92....The Only Station that matters".......It'll be interesting to see what the summer ratings look like, and what slice of the pie 9-9-3 can swallow from those residing within 25 miles of their P-Town broadcast tower.....

I thought I would take my own advice. Our electoral process is too expensive and leaves our Representative in dept to their party and contributors, not the voters. With all due respect sir, it's quite easy from your vantage point to take the high road and sign your name. From where I sit, posting my name would simply send me packing. Many of us here at Basie Road are caught between a corporate rock and a hard place with nowhere to turn because there simply is no one to report our problems to. Sound a clarion call of alarm and you're shown the door. I've worked in many places where if a program director was a problem, you could take the evidence to the next in command. It doesn't work that way here and many of us are concerned that the captain may take the crew down with the ship, without any of us being able to notify the authorities of th trouble onboard. Mutiny, while always an option, is also frowned upon in our corportate culture. I'd love to come out of the closet, but I'd be history tomorrow. Lucas has been taken to task for things he's not posted - the implication is clear, bitch and you'll be shown the door. So excuse our cloaked whining, it must be nice to be so brave when you have nothing to lose.

Jim, now that you're running for office, it's obvious that you're going for the kinder, gentler kinda image and that's all well and good, but take it from someone who's been around as long as you and has seen every kind of snake that has ever held a management postion, Lassman is in a league of his own. I have always been willing to give people who have to answer to others in authority the benefit of the doubt, but this man is an uncouth, buffoon without a shred of intelligence or redeeming value. He refuses to take responsibility for any of his decisions - will not stand up for or support the people that work for him - cowers to those over him yet bullies those that answer to him. There's no creativity, never once has he said, " how can we make this thing better - what can I do to help or that's a good idea, run with it. " There's no brain - no courage, no heart - no love for the medium, just someone who's inability to do the job he was hired to do erodes the foundation of the station he was brought in to repair. Add to that people from another part of the country making ill-adviced decisions, perhaps based in part from less than insightful information provided by the man and Jim, believe me on this one, don't bother giving the man the benefit of the doubt - he wouldn't do it for you. There are still some very gifted people over there, people with proven track records who could right that ship and and turn things around, but Jim, nobody knows this better than you - without the support of competant management it ain't gonna happen. I respect your attempt at fairness, but in a few extreme cases - like this one - he doesn't deserve it. Imagine someone posting, " I'm sure a few of you have personal axes to grind with Mr Hitler, but we've all had bad dictators before, let's get together at the beer hall for a drink and swap stories. " No, this guy's inabilities must be made public. I've held my tongue on this one for a long time and let others do the bashing, but again, there are clowns and then there's John Wayne Gacey

As an Old Radio Gasser I resent the implication that because we are more gentle in our public criticism we have not suffered, endured stupidity, and been frustrated by lousy management. Don’t read this! I have some “Pointless Thoughts” I feel compelled to share. I don’t know Lassman but I think he must have an ex-wife that is just dogging him under various pseudonyms. You have to believe Bloomguist loves him, like I loved Howard Stern. As long as Stern was pissing people off I never had a complaint. On RB, I applied to WBT for an afternoon slot while Bloomquist was there, turns out he was familiar with my work, which was flattering, then quite bluntly he told me he was not interested. I appreciated the lack of BS. And just for the record, Carl McNeal, a friend then and now, fired me from the Hill. Of course it was a terrible mistake on their part, but the firing was great. Odd how easily I walked away from the best job I had ever had. I still miss the magic moment in time that was over a decade of my career. Some people never get a moment like that or worse, don’t realize they have or had one. My current position at RadioRichmond is the most fulfilling and challenging opportunity I have yet had. I am again working with remarkable, hard working, quality people. One of the owners once called to tell ME not to be upset by the trends, which had taken a bit of a down on one of our stations. Put that in a paycheck! I knew it was a special time at WRVA and I know my current position is too. (Coming up, words of Wisdom) My job is not always easy, if it was they wouldn’t need me (or you). (More wisdom) I often felt the job I was taking on was over my head or I wasn’t worthy. I then reminded myself “I wasn’t the one who made the decision to hire me”. I only had to prove they hadn’t made a mistake. (I am almost done) Something hit me with Scott’s post. Those who have been around seem more philosophical, the younger folks seem angrier. You would think it should be the other way around. Like many of you I have worked for the good, the bad and the ugly, often at the same time and place. A question. Is it just idle complaining or has the business really turned sour. I am not talking about the wretched Communications Act but the work. I thought the positive response to Cox was most interesting. Are there other good places and people to work for in this town? Or is it like the great city you live in and you don’t want anyone else moving there so you keep it to yourself. That’s it, I don’t want to hear any complaints about this post, you were warned. Damn this thing is too long. I could edit it or take a nap, hmmmzzzzz zzzz…

Hey everybody...I certainly appreciate the kind words about the demise of COOL 106.5. Right now, I am looking for a full time radio gig in or out of the market. Since I don't really want to move, I'm also checking into some PR jobs around town. (but ya know, we've all spent a lot of time at Victory Nissan lately...maybe they need a used car salesman). Please give me a moment to thank some folks on the 2nd floor at Basie Road. Bill Cahill is a great guy who I hope to work with again in the future. Wicker, Lucas, Kat, Surf, Smack, and Adam are some of the finest people I've ever had a chance to be around. Bill Bevins has been like a brother for over 20 years. Of course, the only reason I went across town was to continue to work with Joe Siragusa, Bill Drake, and Steve Leonard. Nazi Radio? That's a little harsh. Mr. Wolfe, and others, I'm pleased your experience at Cox has been positive for you. I'll keep that in mind for future refence. But I still believe in CC. I'm not a "Randy-fan," I've never been a fan of "shock radio." But, was there "old school," dead-wood, that needed to be cleared? Absolutely! I've listened to KSHE, the buzzard, and WBCN; They sucked. Have the changes been handled badly? I can't speak for those stations, here: in cases, yes. But as member of the Richmond CC cluster, as I look up the chain of command, I see a lot to be optimistic about. I'm extremely encouraged (and a little intimidated) by the loyalty and repect Bill Cahill commands from the people who work for him. I was sorry to see Reggie go, but noone would argue that Woody has a clue. Above him is Jay Sterin, who has an excellent vision and grasp of what can be accomplished by adhering to the Mays' CC motto: "One Name, One Company, One Community;" in the new age of broadcasting. We still have some extremely talented people here. Billy Surf's in the building, and Jay Smack (who's time will come) is still hanging on, to name just two. Then there are the Wayne Shimko's and Rob Witham's that are never mentioned on this board, but without whom's experience the good ship Basie would surely have sunk in harbor. I would, also, point to BT as the returning tide of personality radio, I prophesized, come early. BTW: BT comes to us from a CC station in B.F., PA., ala Pauly (my BOY) Madison. I find intra-company promotions encouraging.
Finally, the Beat; yeah, it shook me up when Cool vaporized. I don't know those people well, but nobody likes to see that happen. What took the air out of me, though, was knowing that I may be circling the drain, and knowing how close I was to getting that particular rope. But, you would have to be a complete moron to build a cluster in Richmond that didn't include a vernacular format for the core of 85% of the population.

It helps if you follow the gloden rule that way you start to earn repsect. I am not attack you but trying to help you improve your very dammaged immage by giving you constructive critism. I have been through the biz for 10 + years, the last 2+ @ B103 and Cox has been the most stable corporate situation I've seen myself. I appreciate it more every time I see a new disgruntled anti-CC post. Hang in there. It's still a hell of a lot better than the real world.

I stand behind what I said about John Lassman. He was almost fired from his promotions Director gig, so he sought other gainful employment. This resulted in a PD gig in Richmond, even though he knows nothing about the market.

I have often wondered how the "fans" of some of these so-called "on air personallities" would react should some of their posts here be made public by the printed media. Talk about a "Den of Thieves". Methinks they would slit one anothers throats at the slightest chance of sitting in the catbird seat. Like they could could do better than the evil Lassman. Nice people.

Cindy when a great city gets taken over by a company of morons you get what you have a stuggling market. Heck, Palm Springs is a better market and we are a smaller market. It pains me to see my hometown like this, but as long as Flammer and Bitch as well as Loveline are on you will have this crap on the air. As long as great people get fired for no real professional reason and people leave because of professional reasons such as the PD is the biggest asshole to hit richmond since the Brittsh troops in the revolutionary war you will have this. It will help with John Lassman's immeadiate dismissal, preferably he gets fired with no saftey net like Jeff Beck Rik Maybee and Lisa McKay. Sure they have moved beyond CC, but Lassman has no heart as well. Hey Lassman I hope you are reading this, I am not Lucas Foxx, Lucas can not be on the road to vegas which is 4 hours away from Palm Springs when he is working for you in Richmond. Please John, respect our views as we will yours if you decide to post here. There is a thing called the first amendment in our countries constitution which allows all of us to post here. Don't yell at your people for the posts in here instead email me privatly as you can see my email is posted here. If you have issue with me and my views either publically post here or email me, I will listen and read it. Lassman won Linda Forum over with promises of NTR. He has never programmed in a major market. As a matter of fact, his employer in MI was looking to let him go. He isn't even a good promotions person. This guy is employed because he knows how to kiss up, that is the only reason. He can't manage his way out of a paper bag. I hope for his sake all of the kissing up insures a gig for more than 2 months. As much as Randy likes downsizing, I can see Cahill assuming PD duties of XL.

Hey name withheld you obviously never worked in radio. No one who had issues with any PD has come on here and bemoaned the sweeping changes in the industry. People who worked in radio saw them coming for years. The problem with WRXL is how the changes were implemented. Everyone on the airstaff (who I guess you describe as old school) were seasoned professionals. What they got was a bait and switch deal. They were told an experienced professional would be programming the radio station. They were told he was knowledgeable with the technology. They were told he was a great communicator, lived and breathed selector, and had programmed in a major market. They were told he could be trusted. They were told he thought up great promotions. They were told he could write great promos. They were told he could do production and even an airshift. They were told after 7 years with a superb PD they would get a better one. You know what, they didn't. Many what you would call old school pros were so stunned at their obvious misfortune that they checked out immediatley physically or mentally. So don't come on this board and defend someone who is just basically a career killer. Everyone knows how radio has changed, we don't need a lesson from you. Its the execution of those changes folks have a problem with. If you were not front and center for the Lassman show you have no point to make.

At least 760 is smart enough to pick up Jim Rome while the Fan has made the retarded decision to place former Donkey homer Jim Ryan in its pool of local-oriented-homer-talk-show-format...The fan is so lame that they don't even have the BALLS to answer their phones or provide listeners with an email adress to respond to this decision...I have lived in Denver my whole life and am not a fan of the local temas...I tolerate some of the one-sided banter on the Fan, just to get to the Rome show each day...but now...??? No way...I don't agree with Rome's takes all the time, but at least he's objective enough to give POV's that aren't just "GO DENVER" oriented...Mike and Sandy have become nothing more than a 3 hour cheerleading session...Theirry and CJ are a poor imitation of Balck Panthers on Lithium, and Irv and Joe are the closest thing to objective sports radio on the local level...at least Joe Williams has the backbone to present challenges to the Denver sports scene, but all he gets is dissention from the other hosts on the Fan which has grown tiresome and juvinile...No, I don't agree with all of Joe's opinions, but I enjoy hearing all the myopian Denver fans react to his takes with the ferver of a 4 year old being told that Barney is not cool...Good bye to the Fan, and all their cheeleaders who play to the hordes of Donkey minions and Avalanche tunnel-vision fans who only want to hear sugar-coated opinions on the local scene...I speak for many intelligent sports fans who will gladly switch to 760 and listen to more objective sports talk...I predict AM950 the fan will circle the drain and their ratings will plummet with this lame line up

sorry guys, but i dont think lassman should take so much heat.check the heritage rock stations around the country ie k-roc, k-she 95, the buzzard, WBCN etc. (and more) most have undergone major air talent changes and have undergone FORMATIC changes as well, active rock or new rock. guess what? listeners move on, and to float the boat you gotta change and pull in new listeners> new talent/ new music, lassman if you read this maybe your already hip to the formatic thing, if not, get a clue. out of work DJ's, quit crying, get flexible and change or reformat yourself and move on. also, XL102 should be a personality driven station, if you read liner cards and back-sell records you suck, try soft rock (but you gotta have pipes) one guy over there does. for the rest of you complainers, listen to the new afternoon guy, intown out-of-town, it does'nt matter if you suck, you suck. he does'nt. as far as lucas, he's flexible and he has some measure of talent. He may make the cut. jeff in the morning, i believe he gets it and he does'nt sound "old school" i really believe he'll make the cut. in the end, "old school" is exactly that- OLD SCHOOL! been there done that. pull your head out of the conservative, old fashion , behind the times richmond mind set, log on to the net and check out the major leagues, they set the pace. then when everything goes down in flames, you'll have your aspestos suit on and you wont get your weiner sizzled off.

When I worked for Cox at The Planet, we were treated very good and very respectfully. I spoke with Scott Stevens a couple of days ago and it sounds as if he has a lot of irons in the fire. For now, tune in to The Planet today as I believe he is filling in for Dick Hungate for a couple of days.
